Curriculum Update
Math - Students will be able to:
- Understand and work with power of 10
- Read and write whole numbers and decimals
using standard form, expanded form, and
number names - Understand moving from one place value to another is done by multiplying or dividing by 10
- Read decimals to the thousandths place
- Compare and order decimals to the
thousandths place - Round decimals and whole numbers to the hundredths place
- Solve problems by identifying patterns
- Find a book that grabs their interest
- Read for an extended amount of time
- Recognize their thinking as they read
- Effectively communicate their thinking about what they’ve read
- Explain the significance of the sun to our solar system
- Describe the all the planets’ position in our solar system
- Explain how the earth’s rotation and orbit impact our day, year, and seasons
- Describe the eight main phases of the moon, how they occur, and how often, and explain the moon’s impact on tides on earth
- Analyze why settlers came to North America
- Identify different colonies that were founded in North America
